Working with Hand Therapists in my practice. Subspecialists from Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy backgrounds who, once qualified, work primarily alongside hand surgeons

You can manage your wound after surgery. If you have a hard plaster of paris in your bandages, the hand therapist will take it off the week after surgery, but if you have a soft dressing, you can take the wool and crepe bandages off yourself at 48 hours, and wash the wound in normal soap and water after 4 days, removing the sticky dressing yourself, and replacing it with a clean one after washing and drying around the wound (wait ofor the skin to dry)

Some basic exercises - I am NOT a Hand Therapist. If you need a Hand Therapist, I will refer you on, and most of my patients are referred. However, a small group of patients can make a quick recovery from a straightforward intervention or after injury and these simple suggestions may help.

Again, NOT Hand Therapy advice, but some entry-level ideas for patients that don't need Hand Therapy
